Objective 4 – It’s looking good in Falkirk (perception and image)

To improve the perception of Falkirk as a visitor destination and a place to conduct business, we are working on the following projects:

Locate in Falkirk initiative is aimed at attracting new businesses to locate in the town centre; we are currently working with Falkirk Council and are producing marketing material aimed at providing selling agents, surveyors, property owners and potential property occupiers with detailed accurate information on trading in Falkirk town centre. The valuable marketing materials produced will be mailed to the owners of vacant property, sales agents and potential retail businesses.

Making positive use of vacant property – we are currently liaising with vacant property owners in the town centre to obtain permission to use vacant window space to promote Falkirk and it’s attractions. Large posters are in production showcasing Falkirk in a positive way. These posters mark Falkirk’s current attractions such as the Falkirk Wheel, Callendar House and will also look into Falkirk’s historic past. Our attractive window displays will not only make use of vacant windows, they will also be of interest to visitors as well as local residents.

In addition to these projects:

• We are working with Falkirk Council and other partners to encourage new development in the BID area of the town centre.

• Your BID is currently exploring with partners the possibility of exploiting Falkirk’s Heritage as a means of changing perceptions and increasing footfall to the town centre.

• We are working with Falkirk Council and other partners to develop a Town Centre Strategy for Falkirk town centre – taking it forward for the next 10 -20 years.
